Group wins suit against New Bruns., paves way for ward vote

Morris, or anyone else who is involved - I am wondering if the action below is related to the initiative I remember Morris posting about - re New Bruns politics. I didn't follow it very closely, but as I recall, there was an attempt to make city gov't more accountable to the citizens. If anyone here...

I do think you should let people know. It's a little late in the season, but I know people who in my garden group who would have jumped at the opportunity. I will pass the word on to them right now. The number provided is of the co-op. Are you sure that there will be someone at that number who will ...

Silk Soymilk Packaging Scam

The following is a post from the Organic Consumers Asso web forum, so- true or not I don't know. But for people who try to avoid GM food, they might want to check it out further. "The OCA web forum is an online community of like-minded people sharing thoughts about the wide variety of topics yo...

Hi all, I saw the article in the Co-op newsletter on this topic, and was going to respond: There are agencies which go out to a person's home, and I think for free or little cost, they do an energy assessment. I wonder if that is available to a small business? I'm sure Morris wd know about this if i...

Soy is a complicated subject. When I decreased the amount of animal flesh and dairy that I ate, I incorporated a lot of soy into my diet. I really got to like soy cheese and the like. Then came all these articles about how bad soy is, first that much of it is genetically engineered, and second, that...

Do you know where your soybean comes from?

“Importing Chinese soybeans or contributing to the loss of rain forests by shipping in commodities from Brazil just flat-out contradicts the working definition of organic agriculture,” said Mark Kastel, Senior Farm Policy Analyst at The Cornucopia Institute. A new report, released this week by The ...

I volunteer to be a seller/cashier at this event. [as long as the date does not conflict with anything already planned] Re Morris' good points - 1) we might tell people, if they are dropping off donations, they must agree to pick up what is not sold. I have also seen people use garage sales as a dum...

Also found this re Vitamin D- "In order to counter the swine flu and the potential of the cytokine storm one must have optimal amounts of vitamin D either from sun or supplementation. The rationale is that optimal D causes the immune system to produce high amounts of antimicrobial peptides whic...

Immune system

Normally when something is going around, I tend to my immune system. But in the case of this flu - possibly - the reason why many people between the ages of 20 and 40 are stricken, rather than the older or the younger as in 'regular' flu, is bec. this flu causes a cytokine storm - when something cau...

Spring Fling?

Hi,
Has anybody heard about Marilynn's annual bash?
It's about that time of year.
Of course she may have the option of not doing it, I'm not sure. :)

I just don't want to miss it, if it happens.

thanks,

Where in the Co-op are the plants? Melissa, like most herbs, this one wants as much sun as possible. One thing that helps, if possible, is to raise or remove the window screen. this will result in a lot more sun getting thru. And if you can have it outside for a couple hours a day, so much the bette...

Hi,
I will be there Thurs to get.
Can you say how many plants you're leaving, and can the others say how many they want-
That way, if I'm the last person to pick up, if 3 were left, I'd take them, but not unless I know the others have picked up theirs.

Thanks!
